NOTIFICATION

 

S.R.O. 14/D/CUS/72-29th April 1972-In exercise of the powers conferred by section 19 of the Customs Act, 1969 (IV of 1969) and under sub-section I of section 7 of the Sales Tax Act, 1951 (III of 1951), the Government of Bangladesh is pleased to exempt-from the whole of Customs duties and Sales Tax leviable on import and export of goods specified in columns 1 and 3 of the table below (corresponding to the columns 1 and 3 of the Annexure to schedule B of the Trade Agreement between Bangladesh and India, 1972) to the extent of quantities specified in columns 2 and 4 of the table (corresponding to columns 2 and 4 the said Annexure) :

 

                Provide that -

(a)   these goods pass through the Land Customs Stations established for the purpose;

(b)   the exports and imports are made by persons living in areas, other than municipal areas, within eight kilometers (5 miles) on either side of the international boundary and holding special permits issued by their respective competent authority;

(c)   no person crosses the border for this purpose more than once a day in each direction on any two specified days of a week or on any additional number of days as may be mutually agreed between the concerned competent authorities in India and Bangladesh.
