The Bangladesh Trade Portal (BTP) is an official source of all regulatory information relevant to traders who wish to import goods into Bangladesh or export to other countries. The Ministry of Commerce of the Bangladesh Government has established the Portal in order to improve the predictability and transparency of the country’s trading laws and processes.

Trade Scenario Between Bangladesh and Kenya

There prevails an excellent bilateral trade relation between Bangladesh and Kenya. Bangladesh and Kenya have been trying to strengthen existing trade relations between the two countries. Bangladesh exported goods worth US$ 22.18 million in 2021-2022 and imported goods which stood at US$ 5.00 in 2021-2022.

It appears from the above table that the blance of trade is in favor of Bangladesh but the volume of trade needs to be increased.

03.       The Commodity-wise export in the fiscal year 2019-2020 may kindly be seen at Annexure-A.

04.       Major exports from Bangladesh to Kenya:

pharmaceutical productes ,Fruit and Vagetabules, Jute and other textile, Woven fabrics, Sacks and bage, Iron & stile Household art & parts there of etc.

 05.      Major Imports from Kenya into Bangladesh :

Base metals & articles of base metals       Aluminium & Articles there of Electrical equipment parts & accesories.

06.       In view of the above, the following points may be taken into consideration in order to boost up Bangladesh’s export to Kenya:

  1. Bangladesh has huge potentialities to export more RMG and other items to Kenay. Necessary steps may be taken in to concideration to enhance our RMG export;  
  2. Exchange of trade delegation between the two countries both at private and Government level should be encouraged on a regular basis to identify new areas of business and investment between two countries ;
  3. Exchange of trade information/opportunities on a regular basis between the two countries may be ensured;
  4. Bangladesh may take part in trade fairs in Kenya for the consolidation of existing market and creation of market for new products;
  5. Investors may also be requested to invest in Bangladesh.
